Book launches galore!
💕 The Big Event 💕
On 1st June, a wintery Wednesday in Melbourne, I launched my debut novel someoneleseschild at the magnificent Readings Emporium in Melbourne.
Over 100 people came along to celebrate this milestone. Some took annual leave days, some travelled by plane and train. The effort people made to be there makes me want to cry.
The incredible Eliza Henry-Jones who read an early draft and then the final book had some great questions for me in the Q & A.
I finally met my gorgeous publicist, Natika.
Fellow authors and writerly people I’d only met online also braved the weather and I am ever thankful for this bloody nice creative community we have in Australia.
It’s exhausting pulling together an event of this size, especially when I’m so new to it all but Readings and HarperCollins sorted enough books to arrive on time … and they pretty much all sold!

💕 The Local Event 💕
Then on Saturday, I had a lovely informal chat at Belgrave Library where so many familiar faces — friends and writing colleagues — came to listen to me bang on about the book.
The generous Vicki Thornton who read an early draft and is a passionate librarian hosted the talk. Claire from Belgrave Bookbarn gave up her Saturday to come and sell books.
A huge thank you to all of you who celebrated in person and a special cheers to those who couldn’t make it but supported me by pre-ordering the book. Hugs to each and every one of you (so many nice squeezes, it will be a miracle if I have not caught Covid!)
